Cranial sacral work

is a gentle and anatomically focussed treatment for all ages: from newborns as part of post-natal care and through every stage of our challenging lives up to old age. It is based on the fact that our bones remain elastic and moveable throughout our whole life and that our cerebrospinal fluid has a gentle pulsating, breathing motion, which provides nourishment to our system 24hrs a day, while we are busy getting on with our lives!

Some of our life´s experiences leave an imprint in our physical body. Injuries, accidents, tension and stress, either emotional or physical, can constrict this natural breathing motion of the cerebrospinal fluid. Common symptoms are headaches, migraines, teeth grinding, sinusitis, sleeplessness, back and neck pain.

Cranial sacral treatments can address these symptoms on a physical, emotional and even spiritual level. Extremely gentle touch is used that allows the body to release tension and regain its natural fluidity. The more fluid and flexible we are the better we feel.

You don´t have to wait though until you feel ill. Having a cranial sacral treatment is an opportunity to take a rest from the ‘rat race’ – as most of us live very stressful lives. It allows the body to rebalance and integrate its experiences in a calm and peaceful environment so that you feel recharged to face life again.

The method of cranial sacral work originates from around 19oo in the U.S. and stems from the older technique of osteopathy. Osteopathy – developed and taught since the mid 18oos – focused on manipulation of bones.
Extending the osteopath´s structural approach, the cranial sacral therapist palpates the fluid motions and the client´s individual pulse. This palpation reveals where the fluid does not flow freely, however, with very light touch from the therapist´s hands, the body can self-correct in a very gentle way.

Experience shows that stillness and concentration seem to be essential. They offer the chance to dive deep into your own inner sensations, an experience not unlike surfing the waves of the ocean. The heightened awareness of these flowing motions creates synchronicity again and invites you to get back into your own rhythm.
